Our History
1936
– The Constitution of 1937 established new bases for the relationship between the State and the producing classes. Unions, federations and confederations gain prominence.
– The National Confederation of Industry (CNI) is founded from the merger of the Industrial Confederation of Brazil (CIB), led by Roberto Simonsen, with several employers' union representations (Ministerial Letter 17/1938).
1942
– The industrialization of Brazil gives rise to the need for the training of specialized labor. The creation of the National Service for Industrial Learning – SENAI, through Decree-Law 4.048/42, for professional education funded by the industry itself.
– From the establishment of the organizational bases for the federal industrial education network, the Technical School of Chemical and Textile Industry – ETIQT is created, via Decree-Law No. 4,127/42, with courses focused on the textile industry.
1943
– By virtue of article 5 of Decree-Law No. 4,127/42 and Decree-Law No. 5,222/43, ETIQT was incorporated into the National Service for Industrial Learning – SENAI, as a unit of the National Department of SENAI.
1949
– Inauguration of the Technical School of the Chemical and Textile Industry (ETIQT), with a faculty made up of professionals specialized in North American and English textile schools and with state-of-the-art equipment.
1973
– Launch of the Textile Operational Engineering course, in addition to five more specializations for the training of textile technicians. In the same year, the School began to develop activities in the areas of technical assistance, textile information and applied research.
1979
– By virtue of item XIII, of Resolution 114 of the National Council of SENAI, ETIQT is now called Chemical and Textile Industry Technology Center – SENAI CETIQT.
1980
– Launch of the Mechanical Engineering course (textile qualification) and the Styling Course in Industrial Clothing.
1997
– CETIQT becomes a pioneer in the Industry System, as the first unit to launch higher education, with the Textile Industrial Engineering Course.
2001
– Launch of the first Fashion Design Higher Education Course in the country.
2014
– Creation of the SENAI Institute of Technology – IST, with the objective of offering Consulting and Metrology services, providing increased competitiveness and development of the textile, clothing and fashion industrial chain.
2016
– Launch of the book "The fourth industrial revolution in the textile and apparel sector: The vision of the future for 2030".
– Creation of the first Apparel Plant 4.0 in the country, with the objective of demonstrating the concepts and guiding the implementation of this new production concept.
– The SENAI Institute of Technology is accredited by INMETRO as the only laboratory in South America to perform flash fire tests to verify the behavior of PPE garments, making this type of test feasible in Brazil.
2018
– Inauguration of the Fashion LAB (SENAI LAB Network) and Model Factory, as spaces aimed at the textile and clothing segments, created from the concepts of open laboratory and makerspaces.
– Launch of the 1st Class of the Master in Business Innovation – MBI Advanced Industry: Apparel 4.0.
2019
– Beginning of the installation of the laboratories of the SENAI Institute of Textile and Apparel Technology - IST.
– The bachelor's degree course in Fashion Design (Riachuelo Unit) obtained a score of 5 in the evaluation of the Ministry of Education.
– Launch of the Inova Moda Digital Platform, with the objective of connecting players in the fashion segment.
– Faculdade SENAI CETIQT resumes the publication of the REDIGE Journal, dedicated to the promotion of articles and essays that investigate issues of strategic interest for the development of the textile and apparel chain.
– Obtaining grade 5 from the Ministry of Education for the bachelor's degree course in Fashion Design.
- Promotion of the Jute Sustainable Fashion Contest, in partnership with Castanhal, which led selected students to create looks, with the guidance of experts from the SENAI Institute of Technology, presented in a fashion show at the Fashion Lab.
- Launch of the Inova Moda Digital platform, promoting free access to information on trends, colors, shapes, materials and fashion product intelligence.
2020
– Creation of the Sustainability and Circular Economy Center (NUSEC), with the aim of providing strategic guidance and support to companies in identifying new business opportunities aligned with the principles of sustainability and circular economy.
– IST, in partnership with SESI, ABIT and SEBRAE, launches the Manual for the Resumption of Activities for the textile sector, a document that brings together recommendations and lists the best practices for the resumption of activities and protection of workers.
- Development of pilot batches of textile hospital items with antiviral functionalization (including Anti-COVID-19), for hospital application, and the specialized manufacture of uniforms and mapping of supply at scale.
- Celebration in agreement with the international organization Laudes Foundation, aimed at promoting the circular economy in the fashion industry.
- Implementation of medical-hospital metrological tests on surgical gowns, unique in Brazil, during the pandemic period, with more than R$ 500 thousand in revenue.
- Launch of the Master in Business Innovation -MBI Advanced Industry: Automotive 4.0 postgraduate course, as part of the national Rota 2030 program, currently the Mover Program, leading to the training of leaders of the main automakers in Brazil.
- Accreditation as an Embrapii unit, with expansion of operations in innovation projects in biosynthetics, fibers and intensification of chemical processes.
2021
- Launch of the Sectoral Development Program (PDS), together with ABIT
- Signing of an agreement with Sebrae Nacional to continue the trend research of Inova Moda Digital and consulting to 1760 companies throughout Brazil.
2022
- Signing of an agreement with Renner to offer the postgraduate course in Technical Product Development 4.0 In Company.
- Inauguration of the new headquarters unit in Barra da Tijuca, concluding the modernization process.
- Completed the second MBI class in Advanced Industry: Automotive 4.0.
- Launch of the implementation project of the Maricá Fashion Pole, starting the action focused on territorial development, with more than R$ 8 million in projects.
2023
- Celebration with Renner to hold new classes of In Company extension courses.
- Launch of the Textile Sector Development Program, in partnership with ABIT, which aims to guide and train professionals in the textile industry in expanding business in technical textiles and for technological challenges in Research, Development and Innovation (RD&I) Projects.
- Holding of the first edition of the Denim Day contest, with the purpose of stimulating the technical capacity of students in relation to the use of jeans.
- Rescue of the National Weaving Meeting - ENAT, a historic event in the sector, aimed at disseminating trends, stimulating innovation and generating new business.
2024
- Faculdade SENAI CETIQT receives for the fifth consecutive time the Socially Responsible Institution Seal, provided by the Brazilian Association of Higher Education Maintainers (ABMES).
- SENAI CETIQT holds the second edition of the Denim Day contest within the ENAT event.
- Faculdade SENAI CETIQT receives the ABMES Quality Seal for an Institution Committed to Employability is granted to higher education institutions that demonstrate excellence in the insertion of their students in the job market.
- Creation of the Strategic Development Management – GDES. Conducting trend studies and prospective analyses for the strategic direction of business, focusing on the production chain and textile and apparel value. As part of the actions, the Inclusive Culture podcast was launched.
- National Weaving Meeting – ENAT 2024 which had 631 registrations, 350 visitors, 5 sponsoring exhibiting companies, 5 speakers and more than 1,504 e-book downloads made available.
